On May 1, 2020 ILSAC GF6 / API SP motor oils should be available. This new standard is a significant step up from GF5 which is why it has taken much longer than initially anticipated. Eight new tests were added that an oil must pass to qualify for GF6 certification. To read more about the process and tests, check out this motor.com site.
