AMSOIL Provides Ways To Take The Guesswork Out Of Mixing!

AMSOIL 2-Cycle Oil, like the extraordinary AMSOIL 10W-40 motor oil before it, was a revolutionary product when it was introduced in 1973. Not only was it the first synthetic two-cycle engine oil manufactured in the United States, its unique 100:1 mix ratio set new standards for two-cycle engine oil mix ratios. Of course, over twenty years of outstanding two-cycle engine protection has proven the superiority of AMSOIL 100:1 2-Cycle Oil over competitive petroleum two-cycle oils with 32:1 or 50:1 mix ratios.

Mixing two-cycle oils is confusing for many consumers. Finding a 100:1 ratio is easy and just takes some simple math. Determine the unit of gasoline to be used and then divide the unit by 100.

AMSOIL has made mixing easier by packaging AMSOIL 2-Cycle Oil in ways to aid users. With the AMSOIL 2-Cycle Pillow Packs, for example, one pouch mixes with one gallon of gasoline. AMSOIL further aids users by imprinting graduations on its eight-oz. and one-quart bottles.

On the eight-oz. bottles, graduations are imprinted in U.S. gallons on the left-hand side and in ounces on the right-hand side. Graduations are imprinted in ounces and tenths of a liter on the left-hand side of the one-quart bottle.

AMSOIL believes these consumer aids enhance the effectiveness of AMSOIL Synthetic 100:1 2-Cycle Oil by making the measurements as precise as possible. By designing its products to be superior to all competitive
products, AMSOIL continues to demonstrate why for over twenty years it has remained the leader in synthetic lubrication.

SLS Note: In the 25 years since this article appeared, AMSOIL has continued to improve the product and make it even easier for customers to make sure they are using the correct mix ratio for their equipment.

In late 2016 and 2017 AMSOIL completed a series of Technical Studies comparing AMSOIL Synthetic 100:1 2-Cycle Oil (now named Saber Professional Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil) to Echo, Lucas, and Redmax 2-Cycle Oils. If you would like to see how these tests were done and the results, they are published here:

While AMSOIL 100:1 2-Cycle Oil has been around and proving itself for over 45 years, there are still people who don’t believe it can safely be used at that mix ratio. So AMSOIL worked and reformulated it to be usable at any ratio the customer chooses from 32:1 to 100:1. Want to run it at 32:1, 40:1 or 50:1, go ahead. It will work better than the manufacturers oil and won’t cause excessive carbon or varnish buildup.

AMSOIL has also added packaging options that make it even easier to get the mix ratio you want.
